CURRENT ACTIVITIES

Future Hope foundation Uganda is implemeting Pineapple and beetroot wine making and growing in kisoro district in Nyakabande subcounty targeting30 youth and women. Our aim is to create jobs for youth, women, business expansion and new businesses created.

 

Future Hope Foundation Uganda runs a health care project that enable youth and children living with HIV/AIDS and the guardians to live a positive life through helping them access information on drug adherence and providing them with counseling services.

 

Future hope foundation Ugand is educating mothers with information access on proper feeding habbit. we also educate school girls on dangers resulting from sugar dadies like getiing HIV/AIDS, Sexual Transmitted Diseases(STDs), STIs, early pregnancies that can result to death in case of abortion.

We also train youth to initiate their own businesses for sustainable livelihood using Start and Improve Your Business package (SIYB).

 

In 2014-2015 Future hope foundation Uganda  implemented skills for youth employment projects reaching  to 40 youth  aged 15-30 years as direct beneficiaries  empowering  them with skills for future employment opportunities .This   being   implemented with  financial support from UNESCO. Because of the project impact on the community 2015, it is now supported by Kisoro District Local Government to reach more youth with entrepreneurship skills.

 

 

PAST ACTIVITIES

 

 

  • In 2013 International labour organization (ILO) financially supported youth already in business with entrepreneurship skills development reaching to 40 youth aged between 18-30 years.  This was successfully implemented and the youth are currently earning some income for livelihood, this has led to job creation through   other youth getting absorbed by business centres established by the supported groups of youth.

 

  • The organization having realized health problems affecting young people, there was integration of sexual reproductive health and rights, HIV/AIDS and gender targeting   adolescent between  10-24 years in and out of school in Kisoro town council, this was a result of our interaction with the youth and other development partners where we identified health information  gaps regarding sexual reproductive health &rights, STI & HIV/AIDS among  youth to foster their health wellbeing. With integration of Sexual r young people/youth with general sexual reproductive health messages on STI, HIV/AIDS, Family planning, early marriages among others. 

 

  • Drug,alcohol and substance abuse project. Future hope foundation Uganda  implemented  community health education project on  dangers associated with consumption of illegal drugs targeting most at risk population that includes, trucker drivers, commercial sex workers, bodabodas (motorcycle riders) and HIV/AIDS infected people.  This was done through working with village health team(VHTs)  to always  follow up and facilitate referrals for  drug victims to health facilities for appropriate medical attention. It was established that there was a lot of drug use among these groups and  there was no adherence to drugs especially ART by HIV infected persons who contunously used illegal drugs like marijuana, alcohol,tobacco among others. 

 

  • HIV/AIDS counseling and testing. We are working with the hospital in mobilizing the youth and community for HCT services and HIV/AIDS awareness creation on prevention against HIV/AIDS, out of the 80 youth supported by the organisation 60 have tested for HIV/AIDS and they know their sero status.

 

 

  • Water,hygiene and sanitation project: Future hope foundation implemented a research project on water, hygiene and sanitation in 2011-2012 which was also funded by a student researcher  based in Austria. The project promoted safe water hygiene and sanitation covering all the two wards of kisoro town council
